One reason for suspecting that '95 will be a joyride. Along with, say, The Dust Brothers, DJ Shadow and Depth Charge, Leftfield are upping the climate, keeping the form menacing and unstable, letting those spiky prospects sear through the speakers. Of these four tasters from next years LP, 'Inspection (Check One)' is the most throbbingly portentous - scary like a shoot-out scene from Aliens, Danny Red's vocals all spare and abrupt, basslines like the spine of a rattle-snake. 'Afro-Left' is like rai music created by Daleks, disturbing, infectious. Lord knows what Leftfield are currently creating with Toni Halliday...
